It has been our privilege to have
been an International Associate
of Savills since 1999, the year we
opened our office here in Pueblo
Nuevo de Guadiaro, the
commercial hub of Sotogrande.
Through their unmatched global
reach and untiring support for
the business, I feel very fortunate
Savills have been alongside us all
these years.
As you will read elsewhere,
Sotogrande has maintained the
standards and traditions envisaged by its founders. In modern
parlance its DNA cannot and will
not be tampered with; changes
come naturally in the shape of
refurbished, modern hotels such
as SO/Sotogrande, the MIM in the
Sotogrande Marina, Hotel el

Encinar and the Fairmont La
Hacienda, just down the road in
La Alcaidesa, but Sotogrande’s
principles remain the same.
For me the biggest change since
I first started living here in the
early eighties is that Sotogrande
has become a year-round family
destination. I first came here to
have a look in 1982, just as I was
starting to work as General
Manager of a magnificent cork
and hunting estate near Casares,
just forty minutes’ drive from
here. It was a quiet March day
and driving from Estepona to
Sotogrande there was just one
restaurant open – Hostal Bernado
right in front of my present
