Nature of Sotogrande
Fox, badger, mongoose and wild boar were everywhere and have never gone away. The
area by the sea was the first to be developed (Sotogrande Costa) and Real Sotogrande
Golf Club, founded in 1964, wound its way through the cork trees while the sandier
landscapes were planted with pines and ficus trees which now magnificently line the
iconic street of Isabel La Católica in Costa’s Kings and Queens Area. Gradually new
areas have been opened but have never diverted from McMicking’s original dream –
Sotogrande Alto and La Reserva are set back from the coast so they own the incredible
views that Sotogrande offers over the Mediterranean, Gibraltar and Africa.
