Sport in Sotogrande
The essence of Sotogrande has been its careful and dedicated relationship
to nature and the environment. Low density residential development and
the creation of outdoor areas for all kinds of different sports has long been
Sotogrande’s gift to all of us who live here: tennis, padel, polo, equestrian and
sailing with football and rugby for the young. And of course golf, with the
jewel in the crown being Valderrama where the 1997 Ryder Cup was played
as well as numerous other tournaments of the very highest category starting
with the Volvo Masters in 1988 and this year with LIV golf. Nine golf courses,
all within 10 minutes drive of Sotogrande, are to be enjoyed with Valderrama
Number One in Spain with Royal Sotogrande and La Reserva Club also in
the Top Ten.
Nature and sport in Sotogrande provide a truly incredible atmosphere
in which to grow up and the highly ranked and renowned Sotogrande
International School provides the perfect educational facility so that young
families can now live here year-round and revel in everything Sotogrande
offers without forgetting you only have to drive less than three hours to ski
and one hour to windsurf and kitesurf on the Atlantic beaches of Tarifa.
